You came into our church
Amid the turmoil and the fire
Some had lost a pastor
Others had no desire
From the start you had a message
It was not business as before
You refused to be played as a pawn
You were the man in charge of the floor
It was slow at the beginning
But momentum was your friend
Pretty soon you had us tithing
More gifts to the poor, we were urged to send
Pretty soon it was forgotten
Negativity had finally lost
St. Philips was much more friendly
And it was done at very little cost
We write this poem to tell you
Cause sometimes you need to know
That we appreciate what youve done
And thank you for helping us grow
Together you make a lovely couple
And were glad you chose our town
I suspect that youve only started
More change, as you stay around
So in this Xmas season
Marcia and I wish both of you
A very Merry Xmas
And may God bless you two!
