I write from inspiration – Of a world that I observe

And I’ve been watching you Florence – Here’s a poem that you deserve

Lets face it now Baby – You did a great deed

To take on Al and two children – That were really in need!!

Though to you it was nothing – We’re all still amazed

How you charged in undaunted – Amid the emotion and craze

You were quick to be friendly – Though you knew not a name

You sorted and watched – Not impressed about fame!!

The kids were soon happy – Though their mother they lost

But you picked up the pieces – Not caring about the cost

And now look at Albert – The story’s quite clear

He’s deeply in love – And likes to have you near!!

Lest we get wrong impressions – This was still quite a change

From teaching school near Chicago – It must have seemed strange

Yes, we’re all on lifes journey – And we’re never told ahead

About the surprises we’ll encounter – or what we’d like instead!!

Let me tell you Em and Albie – Though I think you’re both aware

You’ve had two wonderful mothers – Who loved you with special care

So Florence we take our hat off – Cause you have our great respect

We know that Barb is watching – Happy with the results, we suspect!!

But one thing should be noted – And it may be your greatest deed

Helping the kids remember Barb – Which is a better story than the mustard seed

So I’ll tell you kind spirit – Your lessons are well learned

You’ve worked hard and steady – You’ll receive all that you have earned!!
