My sisters got a birthday - Guess how
old shell be
Although it seems like yesterday - Shes
left a trail that you can see
She was MaMas girl from day one - Days
so long ago
God gave her three brothers - But appreciation
she didnt show!!
As a little girl she had a friend - One you
never saw
Shed meet him in the timber - Where the
birds would sit and caw
Joan, where have you been? - The question would
be asked
Ive been somewhere with Billy - Wed
roll our eyes and gasp!!
Our parents liked to travel - But they usually
went alone
Theyd keep in touch every day - And call
us on the phone
And who would do the cooking - The only girl
around
Shed yell, come on and get it - That was
a pleasant sound!!
In High School we started moving - Joan would
have new friends
Thinking back, it had to be hard - Not knowing
where it would end
Three high schools she attended - But it might
only have been two
But she started dating a catholic - What were
Ma & Pa to do!!
Then she started college - And this professor
caught her eye
Six months later they were wed - And Joan bid
us all good- bye
She was off to live in Kentucky - Her two children
there, were born
Her marriage bounced upon the rocks - She walked,
but without scorn!!
Then she met dear Richard - In the choir where
she sang
It wasnt long, they hit it off - And the
bells once again rang
Simone and Brendon both grew up - And happy
lives they live
I know they thank their mother - For all she
had to give!!
Joan you are a good sister - As a daughter,
youre the best
Family meant a lot to you - And you always maxed
the test
You never worried about the past - But moved
on with a smile
And thats why we love you - Now that youre
at the "50" mile!!
