Not that long ago - I remember those days

Before HMO’s - And all those co-pays

When you saw the doctor - The one of your choice

And he wasn’t in a hurry - There was no stress in his voice!!

How did it happen - Our freedom is gone

Insurance companies run the show - Just like a Mafia Don

If you don’t like it - Hey! We’re not forcing you to stay

Go somewhere else - But you’ll still have to pay!!

The costs have gone up - But hasn’t everything

Not like healthcare - Where you get the big sting

Doctors are now told - When and how they will work

And if they ask for a lot of tests - They’re denied with a smirk!!

Hey! Let’s be realistic - There is a bottom line

And that’s where the profit is - So, don’t give us that whine

We’re not here to break even - There’s money to be made

We’ve got our monopoly - And we’re going to get paid!!

We have lobbyist we pay - So don’t try to get cute

We have Spin Masters for stories - And we’ll always convolute

Sure sometimes it’s hard - And we know it’s not right

To let someone die - Without a chance for a fight!!

But we look at the facts - And then we decide

Is there a chance for a cure - We follow a guide

Why waste the resources - And cause someone pain

When there’s no chance of recovery - That’s just insane!!

Sure we’ve been wrong - And lost a time or two in court

That’s part of doing business - It’s kinda like a sport

You call us insurance people - Well listen to this

We have doctors on staff - Who have no prejudice!!

And just remember - We didn’t get here alone

The politicians helped us - That was our cornerstone

So go change the laws - If you think you’ve got the clout
