I rise for a toast - But first let me explain

I’ll review a few facts - Which I feel are germane

So let us proceed - Chronologically if you will

These are wonderful stories - That might even cause a thrill!!

This man sitting here - My best friend Rob, the groom

Whom I met at Lehigh U - Which was before he worked in perfume

He was into heavy metal - With wild shoulder length hair

Rob, you’ve improved with age - Sitting here, so clean cut and fair!!

Many students at Lehigh - Built lofts and set up their bed

But Rob raised up the floor - And put his under there, instead

My folks remember Rob - I was in the hospital when they first met

After he explained the dangers of surgery - They just went away to fret!!

With Rob, it was feast or famine - When it came to the dating game

One week, the restaurant, table and waiter - All of these were the same

It got to the point, that the waiter - Would stand behind the chair

Of the unsuspecting young woman - Signaling Rob, with his thumb in the air!!

Michelle and I felt so sorry - Rob was working late every night

We didn’t know it was chat lines - Keeping him up till daylight

Then one night it happened - Jodi lit up his screen

And he knew before the second date - This was a permanent scene!!

For Rob had a special theory - To get his second dates

He’d call at five in the morning - To see if it aggravates

If she didn’t lose her temper - Then magic must be in the air

He didn’t get many second dates - But the theory does sound fair!!

And now to the marriage proposal - He swept Jodi off her feet

He had her stopped by a trooper - Out in the middle of the street

There was something about a warrant - And having to go to jail

Finally if her name were changed - She could stay out with no bail!!

You’ve really been a friend - And even helped me meet Michelle

And no matter what the situation - I can always count on you as a pal

So let’s all lift our glasses - To the new man and wife

Much happiness to Jodi and Rob - As they start on their new life!!
