President's Column December 2005
November was busy - Many projects were done
Some of them grueling - And some of them fun
The Charitable Gambling Convention - Was informative for sure
The weekend with Lions Linder and Erickson - Was laughs galore!!
I would like to commend them - For their jobs are not easy
If you saw the Gambling Boards rules - It would make your stomach go queasy
If there is any malfeasance - The first person to take the fall
Yep, it's the CEO - And the punishments are not small!!
But together as a team - They get the job done
According to the new owner - Their Bar Bingo is well run
And that's after the first night - Give them a week or two
So thanks again Lions Bill & Steve - And of course your able crew!!
Lions Glazer and Banholzer - Co-chaired the Peace Poster Contest
Both of them working hard - To fairly judge the very best
They came up with their winners - And then rallied the troops
Five of us responded - To present to the winning group!!
Lion Petey led a group - After Lion Herb got him a date
To the U of M Eye Bank Tour - Everyone agreed that it was great
Cindy Lennox was Petey's date - And Lion Herb said this with a smirk
"Just get her home by Monday morning - She has to go to work"!!
We had two ladies visit the club - Which caused quite the stir
I thought they'd make good members - A few Lions did not concur
One member got irritated - "It will ruin the club and 5 guys will quit"
Fear of change, isn't it terrible - I'm laughing, I have to admit!!
Well Lions, relax for a bit - The ladies changed their mind
They didn't feel exactly welcome - Although no one was unkind
A couple of Lions asked the question - "What are you doing here"
So we're still an all male club - With an all male atmosphere!!
So let's agree to disagree - But know that change will come
Many will accept it readily - But it will be much harder for some
Now on to the business of Lion's - To serve our community well
Helping those who are in need - On the petty stuff, we don't dwell!!
Merry Christmas
Lion Bud
