The Week That Shouldn’t Have Been!!

Thank you Congress – For not letting the polls have an affect you

You showed strength and conviction – Always tried and true

People yelled, "Hey just drop it" – But you wouldn’t budge

You wanted to protect us all – By taking it to the judge!!

The House Congressional Managers – Just couldn’t let it drop

They took it to the Senate – The last legal stop

You all pandered to the press – The posturing was quite sick

The Republicans were relentless – They tried every trick!!

Was he guilty or innocent – No one really cared

We were concerned about political scruples – As the legal case was prepared

Our confidence was gone – For those Congressmen in charge

Henry Hyde seemed obsessed – That the conspiracy was just too large!!

It all ended as expected – An acquittal through and through

With the moral judging concluded – Now what will you do

Most of you quickly departed – Vacation for ten long days

Wasting time is an art form – And for Congress, it seems to pay!!

There has to be a way – For you each to get a grade

Some way to dissuade you – From participating in these tirades

And maybe in the end – Just maybe you’ll begin to believe

That the polls do mean something – And the majority isn’t so naļve!!

And just at the end – Of this bizarre Valentines week

But who should step forward – But the master of "Negative Speak"

We’ve heard from him before – Never in a positive note

Usually stumping for someone – Always trying to dictate our vote!!

This time, he attacked a doll – That little children adore

Since it is purple in color – It must be gay, therefor

Mr. Falwell, I thank you – For people can finally see

You’re probably not the best spokesman – When it comes to Teletubbies!!

Now we’ll just hold our breath – And let positive energy flow

Tinky Winky’s psyche will heal – And he’ll once again be the kids hero

He’ll be stronger for the experience – Of looking the Monster in the eye

Realizing that fear is an illusion – He’ll just sit back and sigh!!
