To give a toast to the newlyweds – It arrived on time

We had a long chat – You had questions galore

I answered them all – Until you had no more!!

Then you assured me – That you’d send a check

But after many weeks – I figured, hey! What the heck

So I gave you a call – The only number I had

I’d called you there before – So the number wasn’t bad!!

No one ever answered – Always the answering machine

I left many messages – Finally realizing, it was a screen

You didn’t want to talk – And you didn’t want to pay

You were stiffing the Rhymer – It hurts me to say!!

After all we’d been through – And the long discussion, you and me

You’re just walking away – Figuring the rhyme is for free

You are certainly a marvel – But keep this in mind

You will reap as you sew – I don’t say this to be unkind!!

I’ve tried calling your home – But your numbers unlisted, you know

I could call your brother – But that’s farther than I want to go

You told me you loved it – I even threw in a free verse

This kind of action – Hurts the Internet commerce!!

So I’m posting this rhyme – As a reminder to me

That out of scores of nice people – Just one guy didn’t pay the fee

That’s a pretty good record – So I won’t complain

My faith in human nature – Is something I’ll retain!!

Had I done what I’d considered – I’d be no better than you

Believe me I fought the urge – If you only knew

But I’m moving on – After posting this rhyme

You get no more energy – And you get no more time!!
