Thank You Northwest!!

Okay, it’s over - Soon the planes will be in the air

Those that were frustrated - Hopefully will forget and not care

Many words were spoken - As negotiation strategy was laid

Now that it’s been settled - Both sides stopped the crusade!!

But remember as we will - The flying public at large

Not to mention your investors - When they take that year-end charge

The strike caused us hardships - And we never understood

Why it couldn’t be settled peacefully - As we hoped that it would!!

To the pilots we say - "It’s over and what have you won?"

Let’s get back on the job - For there’s work to be done

To the management we ask - "Could you have avoided this pain?

‘Did this strike have to happen - In the end, was there a gain!!"

To those Frequent Flyers - Who were out in the cold

"Will you forgive the inconvenience - With the bargains we’ll be sold?"

No, it didn’t have to happen - There are points we don’t know

In the game of unions and business - Sometimes mirrors run the show!!

And apparently the rules - Which are never explained

Are what caused the strike - But they’ll never be blamed

Did the union leadership - Need to take a tough stance

Because most of the pilots - Had this obvious petulance!!

So to stay in their jobs - They looked management in the eye

And asked for the moon - Without uttering a sigh

And management gasped - Are you out of your mind

We might be short sighted - But we’re certainly not blind!!

So they went through the motions - Hoping Washington would intercede

And add muscle to the negotiations - By taking the lead

Now the unions and management - Could come out with their pride

And after splitting the difference - Both claimed victory for their side!!

And that’s all well and good - As long as history doesn’t repeat

With the Machinists and Cabin Attendants - Going on strike in the street

People as a rule - Are pretty quick to forgive

We don’t want to cast blame - We just want to live!!
