To Stacy On Her Wedding Day!!
June 12, 2004
Love
Mom & Dad

We knew you were different – When you were quite young
A good little kid – Who certainly couldn’t be called high strung
You loved dressing up – And putting up your own hair
You had a very kind heart – And for others you truly did care!!

You do love to cook – And as a cook you really do well
So Jon should be well fed – But on what, you never can tell
Speaking of Jon – There’s one thing he loves to do
It’s playing the game of softball – But Stacy, this is something that you knew!!

You love collecting cookbooks – And reading books as well
When you were in Middle School – Reading was something at which you did excel
You actually read more books – Than the Librarian of the school
You made us both quite proud – As your Dad, I especially thought this was cool!!

Your nickname is Selma – But we won’t go into why
A girl should have some secrets – But privately you can tell your guy
In 1998, Miss Fridley you became – And what a Queen you were
We truly had a fun year – Attending the parades and as your chauffeur!!

You and your Princess’ – Represented Fridley with pride
Attending 30 or 40 events – As parents, it was an exciting ride
Now Jon is the oldest of five – Who was scrutinized when trouble arose
We know he must have changed – “Trouble” our Miss Fridley would not have chose!!

Jon is an architect with Manley Bros – He was almost a barber, don’t you know
He gave his brother Matt a mohawk – A backwards mohawk, but that was long ago
Stacy, we’re proud of you both – You, an architect with the Cunningham Group
You both worked hard through college – Maybe some of that tuition you can recoup!!

You and Jon met at a dance – And it sounded like love at first site
Now from my personal perspective – Jon, that was really very bright
For you two make a lovely couple – With similar interests, except softball
And with what you two have going – That one difference is very small!!

As the proud parents of the bride – We’d like to toast Stacy and her new groom
Please all raise your glasses – Each of you in this room
May all your dreams come true – And your love continue to grow
May you always keep smiling – As down the road of life you go!!
