By Jon Magness/August 22,1998

I rise for a toast - But, I have much to explain

I’m so excited that it’s happening - I can hardly contain

Your’s is a legacy - Of two people in love

It can be seen at a glance - That you fit like a glove!!

Derek, you and I have shown cattle - In 4-H where we met

We’ve got millions of stories - And we’re not through yet

We attended High School together - Where you practically lived at my house

My folks knew where we were - For it wasn’t, quiet as a mouse!!

Derek, you love to hunt deer - And you’re a pretty good shot

And if you don’t have your gun - You use whatever you’ve got

Like the night we went back - After hunting all day

Without a gun or a knife - It was much to your dismay!!

For you saw a deer - And jumped out of the truck

Where you wrestled and screamed - Looking quite terror-struck

It all turned out fine - As the deer ran away

With a win under it’s belt - Ready to fight another day!!

But Katrina also has stories - And you may not be aware

She was almost a barber - Yes, she cut Derek’s hair

It was suppose to be short - But by the time she got done

He was bald as a buzzard - As for hair, there was none!!

And how many couples - Can boast as these two

They’ve both been beauty queens - Oh yes, it’s all true

Derek entered a contest - Wearing Katrina’s underwear

He came out in third place - It’s all true, I swear!!

Then at Farm Fair in "95" - Katrina was crowned as our Queen

Derek wanted credit for coaching her - On the whole farming scene

And we musn’t forget "Jumping Lizzy" - Who kept Derek’s legend intact

For showing high strung animals - Where an audience, you’d always attract!!

Talk of matches made in heaven - It brings a tear to my eye

For you’re the perfect couple - As this toast has verified

So let’s all raise our glasses - To the new man and wife

And wish them much happiness - As they start their new life!!
