Thanks Mom and Dad - For all that you’ve
done
For all your love and support - And for being so much fun
Having been a chosen baby - You’ve told me since childhood
I was born "in" not under your heart - That always made
me feel so good!!
Mom, you always said - "We could write a
book about Jane"
Yes, I had lots of fun - Not meaning to cause any pain
But Mom and Dad please listen - For I appreciate you both
Even urging my piano lessons - I know helped my growth!!
We traveled the country - And were always on the
go
And if something needed explaining - Dad would steal the show
Dad, you’re a great teacher - Making sure I understood
And if you didn’t know the answer - A short time later, you
would!!
And no matter the time or place - Mom, you would
arise
To provide transportation - And be there to advise
Oh I suppose there were times - When I’d cause you unrest
And maybe once or twice - I might even have been a pest!!
But I want you both to know - How lucky I feel
When I look back at my life - It seems almost unreal
Like motorcycling with Dad - Where we rode way out West
And all those camping trips - To me were truly the best!!
And no matter the trouble - Or how mad you got
I knew you both cared for me - And loved me a lot
When we crashed in the motorhome - And almost lost Dad
Mom, you gave us all strength - Through a time that was sad!!
So now, here I stand - Beside the love of my life
But knowing you approve - Of me becoming Doug’s wife
It’s important at this moment - That both of you know
How much I appreciate today - But also, how you helped me grow!!
I love you both!!
