De
In Memory of My Friend Ricky Boy Enga
When A Loved One is Lost!
When a loved one is lost - It's the worst kind of pain
Many emotions are felt - As they go marching through our brain
Why did it have to happen - De, this question is truly the key
It's difficult for us to understand - And even harder for us to see!!
But at times like this - It's important that we all understand
There are no accidents in this life - And God has us by the hand
De, when your pain is at it's greatest - God will send a soothing word
Or maybe a little story - That someone might have heard!!
For truly the greatest gift - That anyone can ever give
Is to remember our Ricky Boy - But also the loved ones that live
De, I know you carry a burden - Although sometimes it might not show
You too need to be remembered - And that act of kindness I'd like to bestow!!
Remember the good times - When both of you had fun
I remember when you started dating - And both your hearts were one
Or how Ricky hounded you - He so wanted to be a dad
And when you finally relented - Remember Ricky Boy was so glad!!
He was proud of his little Jen - And realistic as well
He knew he broke your heart - The guilt was putting him through hell
He wanted to be forgiven - By himself but more so by you
That probably has happened - Just by what you've both been through!!
God knows we make mistakes - Dumb stuff we can't take back
The punishment is our suffering - As we try to get on track
And yes for every action - There is a reaction as well
That's usually when we realize - That we have just entered Hell!!
Some get a chance at redemption - Others die without that success
In the end we're all forgiven - As we feel God's soft caress
The hard journey of life - Is experiencing feelings of bad and good
Trying to be better people - Trying to do what we should!!
As we each go on our journey - There are no guarantees
Of the trials and tribulations - Or how much pain there'll be
As I write you this note - De, I want you to know that I care
And when I speak to God - You are included in my prayer!!
